We did it. We have started potty training. I wanted to memorialize the grand occasion by posting it on Lily's blog, without including too many details that might gross you out or embarrass Lily when she hits her teenage years, so here goes...
We have spent the last few weeks talking about the potty...what it is, what we use it for, what we DON'T use it for, etc. On Sunday, Lily and I ventured to Buy Buy Baby and with her help, bought her first potty, which also doubles as a step stool, according to the box.
When she and Ethan came back from the pool, I showed her the new potty and she promptly (ok, with my assistance) sat down on it and...success! (I will spare you the details.)
Monday morning, another success!
Every other day this week? Well, let's just say she's more interested in standing on the potty-as-step-stool so she can reach the sink than she is sitting on it. But it's a start!

A Medley of Tunes
Lily loves to sing songs and I finally caught a few on video (turn up the volume on your speakers!). Yes, she has her back to the camera most of the time, but I knew if I tried to get to face the camera, all singing would cease. I used the new video editing site we found and I think I'm going to like it!

August Photos!
Finally. We're half-way through August and I am finally getting around to adding August photos. Where does the time go? August photos here.

A Programming Note
On August 10, the site that has hosted all of Lily's videos is closing down. We have found another site to house her videos called Pixorial. In the meantime, I have to upload all of the videos from Motionbox to Pixorial then post them to the blog. Not hard, just time consuming.
So, after August 10, there may be a few days where the videos on the blog are either gone completely or will not play, as I work to move everything over. Be patient! More Lily videos to come!

Mimi, Sit Down!
Holy cow, where has the month gone? I cannot believe it's been a whole month since our last blog post. A lot has happened!
Lily has definitely had a language explosion. She talks non-stop and we are constantly amazed at the things that come out of her mouth. In reference to the title of this post, one of her favorite things to do is pat the seat next to her and say, "Mama (or Daddy, or Mimi), sit down....peeze!" When my mom came to visit last weekend, Lily told her to sit down in the wagon. My mom, of course, obliged. (Yes, Lily's a little bossy. I cannot imagine where she got that from.)

Here is a quick laundry list of things she's doing now, at 21 months (I'm going to brag about Lily for a few minutes):

Here is a quick laundry list of things she's doing now, at 21 months (I'm going to brag about Lily for a few minutes):
- She can sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Ring Around the Roses, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Happy Birthday, among others. While I would love to take the credit, she has learned all of these at the great daycare she attends.
- Lily can count to 10 in English and in Spanish.
- She can say (most of) her ABCs.
- She can repeat almost anything we tell her to say. Just yesterday, she and Ethan were looking for something in the spice cabinet and he had her saying the word, "turmeric." I'm sure that will come in handy on the playground! ;)
- Lily has had her share of scraped knees and bumps on her head, which goes with the territory when you're always running from place to place.
- She LOVES the water. We have been swimming quite a few times this summer and she improves every time. She likes to practice "swimming" in the bath tub every night by flopping onto her belly and blowing bubbles in the bath water. We are thinking of signing her up for swim lessons this fall.
- She's turning into quite a helper around the house. She likes to help empty the dishwasher by bringing me the clean silverware one piece at a time. She also likes to sweep the front porch with her little broom.
I would love to say that we have caught all of these things on video, but getting her to do anything for the camera is nearly impossible...but we're trying!
