Lily has definitely had a language explosion. She talks non-stop and we are constantly amazed at the things that come out of her mouth. In reference to the title of this post, one of her favorite things to do is pat the seat next to her and say, "Mama (or Daddy, or Mimi), sit down....peeze!" When my mom came to visit last weekend, Lily told her to sit down in the wagon. My mom, of course, obliged. (Yes, Lily's a little bossy. I cannot imagine where she got that from.)
Here is a quick laundry list of things she's doing now, at 21 months (I'm going to brag about Lily for a few minutes):
- She can sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Ring Around the Roses, Baa Baa Black Sheep, Happy Birthday, among others. While I would love to take the credit, she has learned all of these at the great daycare she attends.
- Lily can count to 10 in English and in Spanish.
- She can say (most of) her ABCs.
- She can repeat almost anything we tell her to say. Just yesterday, she and Ethan were looking for something in the spice cabinet and he had her saying the word, "turmeric." I'm sure that will come in handy on the playground! ;)
- Lily has had her share of scraped knees and bumps on her head, which goes with the territory when you're always running from place to place.
- She LOVES the water. We have been swimming quite a few times this summer and she improves every time. She likes to practice "swimming" in the bath tub every night by flopping onto her belly and blowing bubbles in the bath water. We are thinking of signing her up for swim lessons this fall.
- She's turning into quite a helper around the house. She likes to help empty the dishwasher by bringing me the clean silverware one piece at a time. She also likes to sweep the front porch with her little broom.
I would love to say that we have caught all of these things on video, but getting her to do anything for the camera is nearly impossible...but we're trying!
